We would like to welcome you to B’nai Tikvah. We look forward to sharing our love for our Shul with you. We truly believe that we occupy a unique niche in the Deerfield area as well as the greater Chicago Jewish community, and we hope that you will explore that niche with us and choose to become our partner.
B’nai Tikvah was started in 1976 when a number of families decided they wanted to fulfill their Jewish yearnings through a Conservative congregation. From the initial, founding 27 families we’ve grown to 680 families.
We are proud of the fact that a very high proportion of our 680 family members are visibly and actively engaged participants in many areas of synagogue life. Our vibrant, participatory, egalitarian services are the heart of our congregation. Guests regularly comment on the warmth, friendliness, congregational singing, and the sense of community seen and felt at these services. We are blessed to have an outstanding ritual staff that is headed by Rabbi Alex Felch, Hazzan Joe Davis, Ritual Director Rachel Rosenberg, and Ritual Educator Hazzan Hery Chulef. Our ritual staff, is enthusiastic and approachable, and encourages the active participation of congregants in worship services.
Since my involvement, it has been very exciting to watch infants and toddlers growing in our B’nai Tikvah spirit. There are great feelings of affection and pride as these members of my extended family become junior congregation participants, join Makor / Kadima, celebrate Bar and Bat Mitzvah, read Torah, move on to USY and grow into Jewishly engaged and identified young adults. Much of this can be credited to our Director of Education, Felicia Lev, and her religious school staff who provide a strong foundation for our children’s Jewish education.
