Home : Religious School : Youth Shabbat Program
The goals of these programs are for students to learn the importance of community, to be familiar with the Shabbat and High Holy Days services, and to understand the relevance of the prayers and skills that they learn in the classroom.
Our curriculum includes a Shabbat Program every Shabbat (when school is in session) for students in Grades 3-6.
All of our students attend special Shabbat services on Saturday mornings, from 9:30–11:15 a.m., instead of attending on Sundays. They are required to participate in Shabbat services for at least 16 weeks (dates to be assigned) and join the Congregation in the Main Sanctuary for the conclusion of the service and the Kiddush. These services provide students the opportunity to understand the relevance of what they learn in the classroom.
High Holy Days Youth Services – For Students in Grades K-12
We offer High Holy Days services for students in Grades K through 12 on the two days of Rosh Hashanah and on Yom Kippur, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Services are led by members of the B’nai Tikvah faculty and parent volunteers.
Family Youth Shabbat
The Family Youth Shabbat service is offered every Shabbat morning, beginning at 10:30 a.m. The service is designed for children and their parents to share Shabbat with other families in a warm, relaxed atmosphere. The children sing songs and prayers, march in their own “Torah procession,” hear a Torah or Shabbat story, and celebrate birthdays in a service that follows the structure of the traditional Shabbat morning service. The Family Youth Shabbat service then concludes with a Kiddush for the families, before joining the congregation in the main sanctuary for the conclusion of the service and the congregational Kiddush.
Family Youth High Holy Days Services
Special services are designed and provided for families with young children on the High Holy Days.
