Sisterhood

Join Sisterhood and Connect with the Women of B’nai Tikvah!

We invite you to become involved with our intergenerational group of warm, caring, and enthusiastic B’nai Tikvah women. Our inclusive community shares Jewish life through a broad spectrum of offerings, from engaging social and educational programs to social action projects, leadership opportunities, a special Sisterhood Shabbat, and family Shabbat dinners. Please join our dynamic and welcoming community of women!

Funds raised from Sisterhood programs and dues are utilized to support our programming, the women and families of our congregation, and the Women’s League of Conservative Judaism. In the recent past, our funds have bought uniforms for USY sports teams, supplies for the kitchen, and wall artwork and card tables for the synagogue.

Voluntary dues are $36 per year. Pay your dues here.  Additional donations are welcomed!

Sisterhood Programs

Sisterhood Shabbat – One Shabbat each year, we host a family Shabbat dinner and the women of Sisterhood participate in and lead Shabbat morning services. We host an excellent speaker and sponsor a delicious Kiddush lunch. This is a wonderful Shabbat celebration for all who attend.

Educational Programming– Join us as we delve into the significance of Judaism in our lives, learn from knowledgeable speakers, and discuss our experiences as Jewish women in America. Whether studying thoughtful topics Judaic or secular, learning with other women is a long-standing Jewish tradition. Please join us for a variety of creative educational programs in 5782, including a Rosh Chodesh learning experience, a virtual or live museum tour, and a women’s entrepreneurship panel discussion.

Sisterhood Book Club – The Sisterhood Book Club meets on the third Wednesday evening of each month at the synagogue and on Zoom. The discussion is facilitated by our own Judy Levin. This is a chance to meet new people and engage in lively discussion. Contact Debbie Nathan for more information.
Email Debbie Nathan to learn more.

Social Events – Several times a year, Sisterhood hosts programs that encourage the women of our community to meet with both old and new friends. Invigorating and fun, past events have included art and culinary workshops, author talks, game night and card game lessons, improv and musical performances, and mindful sound and movement experiences. Join us, and share your ideas—we’re always open to suggestions!

Sisterhood Gift Shop – The Sisterhood Gift Shop offers a broad array of unique and beautiful Judaic items, hostess gifts, jewelry, and children’s items including Judaic and holiday toys. Our pricing is competitive, and we are happy to special order any item you see offered by another vendor. We also sell tribute and donation cards to mark life cycle events. Sisterhood members receive a 10% discount! Call the Synagogue office or Lauren Klayman (773-251-1231) for an appointment.

Torah Fund Greeting Cards – Purchase beautiful and meaningful life cycle event greeting cards, a baby record book, and a tzedkah box. Proceeds from the sales of these items benefit the Torah Fund Campaign of Women’s League of Conservative Judaism.
Email Lauren Klayman to purchase greeting cards.
